Trailer Relay Isolation Packages

Why is the use of a Trailer Relay Isolation Package recommended?

Today's motorcycles have computers and sophisticated electronics. In an effort to improve mileage, reduce weight and costs, manufacturers are using the smallest gauge of wire that will support the motorcycles lights only. The act of simply tapping extra lights into your bike can cause damage; blow fuses, burn out relays, or worse.

Our trailer relay isolation packages easily and properly connect and isolate your trailers electrical load from the motorcycles factory wiring, fuses, relays and computers and electronics. These units use Omron micro-relays in an epoxy potted housing for weather resistance. Main power and ground come from the battery. .
In order to make a complete harness kit, you must order the 30-P07660 Relay Package and one sub-harness listed below;

Converter for 4 wire Trailers
If your trailer is a 4 wire setup (has combined brake and turn signals), you will need a converter. How do you tell if you need it? Look at the wiring plug on your trailer - does it only have 4 wires? Then you probably need the converter.

Subharness

MCHITCH has plug and play sub-harnesses available for Harley Davidson motorcycles. All others will need to use the Universal Sub-harness.
